MULTIPLICATION TABLE WHEEL

Date: 06/07/2024

Day: Saturday

Description:

The "Multiplication Table Wheel" is an interactive and engaging educational tool designed to help students learn and practice multiplication tables from 11 to 20. This hands-on project combines creativity and mathematics, making the learning process fun and effective.

Objective:

  • To create a functional and interactive multiplication tool.
  • To enhance students' understanding and recall of multiplication tables from 11 to 20.
  • To develop students' fine motor skills and creativity through a crafting activity.

Materials Needed:

  • Cardboard or thick paper
  • Colored paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Brass fastener

Steps to Create the Model:

Base Wheel:

  1. Cut a large circle from the cardboard. This will be the base wheel.
  2. Divide the circle into 10 equal sections.

Number Wheel:

  1. Cut another, slightly smaller circle from the cardboard.
  2. Write the numbers 11 to 20 around the edge of this smaller circle.

Multiplication Strips:

  1. Create 10 strips of colored paper.
  2. On each strip, write the multiplication tables from 1 to 10 (e.g., 1x1=1, 1x2=2, etc.).

Assembling:

  1. Attach the smaller circle (number wheel) to the center of the base wheel using a brass fastener.
  2. Glue each multiplication strip to the corresponding section on the base wheel.

How to Use:

  1. Rotate the smaller circle to align a number with the multiplication strip.
  2. Read off the products from the multiplication strip corresponding to the selected number.

Value of This Activity:

  • Interactive Learning: The hands-on nature of this activity makes learning multiplication tables more engaging.
  • Visual Aid: The visual aspect of the wheel helps students better understand and remember the multiplication facts.
  • Creativity: Crafting the wheel encourages students to use their creativity and fine motor skills.

What Students Benefit from This Activity:

  • Enhanced Understanding: Students gain a better grasp of multiplication concepts through repetitive practice and visualization.
  • Improved Recall: Regular use of the wheel helps reinforce memory of multiplication tables.
  • Mathematical Confidence: Successfully creating and using the wheel can boost students' confidence in their math skills.

What Students Benefit in Life:

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Learning multiplication tables improves overall mathematical abilities, which are essential in daily life and future studies.
  • Creativity and Innovation: Engaging in creative projects encourages innovative thinking and problem-solving.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Cutting, gluing, and assembling the wheel helps develop fine motor skills, which are important for various everyday tasks.
